Canada & US Cross-border Immigration Podcast

Canada & US Cross-border Immigration Podcast

Christina Loebach and Emilia Coto appeared as guests on Canadian Immigration Pros Podcast hosted by lawyer Josh Schachnow. This episode covered which types of pathways are available in both Canada and US, and how our firm specializes in advising families and businesses in their cross-border options. The episode discusses why we practice this area of law and how we got into to begin with. Josh asked tough questions on how someone might decide between US and Canada.

We discuss how Canada has the benefit of having a more direct path to permanent residence without county caps. However, on the other hand, Canada has caps on parent sponsorship, whereas the US does not. For someone who may have both options, both are valid pros and cons to consider.

Beyond that, this podcast episode also peels the curtain back on our practice set-up and how we operate in both Canada (from Windsor, Ontario) and in the US (from Troy, Michigan). Some highlights include:

  • Our immigration niche and the types of cases we focus on.
  • Why most of our practice is remote and how this serves our clients better.
  • Our ideal clients.
  • How we met.
  • Why we partnered together and what values we share together.
  • The tough parts of partnerships.
  • How we make things work.
  • Advice for someone looking to start an immigration firm with a similar set-up.
